Jury discharged in demo of male accused of violently attacking neighbour with chainsaw

A jury in the demo of a person accused of violently attacking his neighbour with a chainsaw north of Brisbane has been discharged.

Gary John Salter had pleaded not responsible to wounding with intent to result in grievous bodily harm right after a street confrontation escalated again in June past calendar year.

The target, Gregory Olijnyk, was left with significant injuries following Mr Salter slashed him with a chainsaw outside the house his Burpengary property.

The Crown contended Mr Salter meant to bring about grievous damage to his neighbour, but Mr Salter’s defence team disputed this.

On Tuesday at Brisbane District Courtroom, Performing Judge Katarina Prskalo informed the jury the trial would no for a longer period be continuing.

Judge Prskalo explained “some issues experienced arisen” in the early morning that meant the jury necessary to be discharged.

The demo was established down for two days.
