Australian Grace Brown has claimed her first Women’s Tour phase victory and taken the general lead in the British race with two times to go after a dash end in Welshpool.
Brown, of the FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope workforce, was element of a three-rider surge at the stop of the 144.7km fourth stage from Wrexham on Thursday.
She held off the obstacle of Italian Elisa Longo Borghini, who inspite of producing a crack for the line sooner or later finished 3rd behind Poland’s Kasia Niewiadoma.
The 29-12 months-previous Camperdown rider now leads Niewiadoma by 4 seconds and Longo Borghini by 6 heading into Friday’s queen phase in Carmarthenshire.
Staff DSM’s Dutch rider Lorena Wiebes, the past wearer of the yellow jersey and pre-race favourite, dropped back again to eighth, 66 seconds at the rear of the chief.
